The Department of Sociology was opened in 1989 with lot of promise among the concerned circle.
The Department started with teaching facility extended to the undergraduate level with academic affiliation available from Calcutta University.
In almost every year, the toppers of the University are from this department. The quality of placement of the students in both academic and non-academic arenas are remarkable.
