The Economics Department of the college is a full-fledged P.G. teaching department. It has three undergraduate (Honours) years of students with 40 seats each year. It also has 25 P.G. students each year for the two years of its post graduate Applied Economics programme.

The department has a very good research wing called the “Center for Economic Studies”. The libraries of the department and the Center for Economic Studies are very well endowed.

The department has received a very prestigious FIST award from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The department has upgraded its infrastructure by building up a modern state of art computer laboratory and introduced modern software.
