The Post Graduate Department of
Biotechnology is the youngest independent multidisciplinary department,
of 193 years old premier institute of higher learning. The newly built
department started functioning from the twenty fourth day of August 2009. This is the only
Government College in West Bengal offering such a multidisciplinary state
of the art course with nominal fee structure.
Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal, has extended
generous financial help to establish this department. The department has
started with 10 students from five different disciplines. Three full time
teachers have joined this department. Many teachers from within and
outside have extended their help in teaching. The department seeks
blessings from all concerned to make a place in the arena of higher
education.
